Happiness is a choice. Positivity is a choice. It’s very easy to fall into a dark mood and have a dismal outlook when there is so much darkness in the world. Sickness, violence, racism and more; we all have a burden to bear, and something that is hard in our lives.  Sometimes its things you cannot control; circumstances beyond your ability to affect change. You may feel helpless, overwhelmed and powerless. 

I am here to tell you that in every challenging situation you do have a power. The true power lies in how you react and respond to these challenges. If you allow yourself to be put into a negative mindset, it makes everything worse. You lose the ability to find your way through and get stuck in a frame of mind that can easily become a victim mentality. 

If you can choose positivity, to look for the silver lining in a bad situation, you are empowered. You have more strength to rise above, to find options, and to be grateful for the things that are going right instead of dwelling on what’s wrong.  This allows you to save yourselves and be an overcomer of your problems instead of a victim of them. 

I’m not saying to live in denial and pretend your challenges will go away if you just smile and stick your head in the sand, not at all. Instead I am recommending that you confront your challenges head on with a “can do” attitude that says you understand that this is difficult, but that you and your partner have a strong relationship, a great love and between you two have whatever you need to get through this together and to affect a positive change, learn a positive lesson, grow and to carry on together in spite of these challenges.
