What is this holiday spirit? We hear about the “War on Christmas”, don’t say “Merry Christmas” It’s not tolerant or inclusive enough in this diverse society that we live in. We don’t want to offend anyone but we still want to share our joy in the holiday season. A good example is my children always felt uncomfortable they wanted to hear Happy Hanukkah when going into a store. People forget that words have an impact. We should always be as inclusive as possible.
The point, though truthfully, is it’s not as much about what you say, it’s about your actions; your feelings, and the way you treat your fellow human beings; not only at the holidays but all year round.
What I advocate in my work is love. It’s very simple. Be kind; act lovingly, and treat your partner, your children, your family members and society at large in a loving way.If you can do this, you will already be in the holiday spirit.
