Hi and welcome to another episode of The Couples Expert podcast with your host Stuart Fensterheim. This is episode 132 of our show. Thank you for joining us. The topic of our show today is all about sharing the passion in your life with your partner.
Stuart is reflecting on how blessed we are by the people in our lives. We need to tell those people how much they matter to us. The things that we do for others to make their lives easier are another example of showing how they matter to us. Seeing his wife shop and cook for her elderly parents makes Stuart feel how fortunate he is to have Debbie in his life. She’s a very kind and giving person. If Stuart didn’t slow down and notice sometimes, all of these might pass him by. Does any of this sound familiar to you? It’s really all about love.
What you’ll learn in today’s podcast:

Work /life balance is essential for a happy relationship. If your work is taking over all your time and energy then you are out of balance. Consider changing your schedule and in the extreme you may even want to change your career. If your work is taking your vital energy from your family and your relationship with your partner, you’re doing yourself and them a disservice. Why do you work so hard if not to provide a level of comfort and a lifestyle for you and your partner to enjoy together?
If things are uncomfortable between you in the bedroom or you are disappointed that your partner doesn’t initiate sex play stop complaining about it and look at yourself and your role in the relationship. Don’t let fear of rejection stop you from asking for what you want. You can absolutely initiate physical intimacy. Give yourself permission to do that.
However, if you’ve had relationship injuries and there are trust issues or anger between you, go to a qualified therapist and get some help to resolve and repair these issues so that you can have that closeness and connectedness that we all crave.
